Espresso Roast

Monogram's Daterra Pearl Espresso beans, sourced from the Cerrado region of Brazil, are a standout for their classic Brazilian coffee profile and sustainable production. These beans are of the Bourbon variety and undergo a pulped natural process, which contributes to their distinct flavor. You can expect a nutty and sweet cup with tasting notes of chocolate almond, walnut, and brown sugar, making it a smooth and approachable espresso option. The beans are peaberries—meaning each coffee cherry produces a single, small, round seed instead of the usual two—giving them a unique, pearl-like shape that inspired their name.

Daterra, the producer, is known for its meticulous approach, dividing its land into 216 mini-farms (5-15 hectares each) and harvesting each terroir at peak cherry maturation using selective mechanical methods. They employ a proprietary sorting technology, developed over a decade, to ensure only the best cherries are processed. The coffee is dried on patios and in drum dryers, achieving a balanced moisture level. This attention to detail results in a clean, well-balanced cup with low acidity, ideal for espresso or drip brewing.

Sustainability is a core focus for Daterra, a pioneer in eco-friendly coffee farming since the 1980s. They were Brazil's first sustainable coffee farm, earning ISO 14001 certification in 1999 and Rainforest Alliance certification in 2003. Monogram supports this ethos through its Sustainability Project, donating a portion of Daterra coffee sales to the Tree_llion project for global reforestation. So, with these beans, you’re not just getting a rich, nutty espresso—you’re also supporting environmental and social initiatives.
